So true! After reading this quote do you think you can find AT LEAST 20 minutes to do some exercise a few times a week?! Think about it…5 twenty minute workouts a week= 1 total hour of activity! How many of you struggle to find an hour during the week to workout? The key to getting in shape (or staying in shape) is to optimize every minute of your day. With a little creativity and using your own body weight it is possible to achieve your fitness goals (lose weight, increase endurance, build muscle) in the comfort of your own home. For those of you who feel as though you have reached a plateau try short daily workout bursts to increase the amount of calories you burn in a day (which will ramp up your metabolism).

Read on for some simple, yet challenging workout routines that you can do in less than 20 minutes!

WORKOUT #1–>Full body TABATA WORKOUT
1st Set-Stationary Lunges 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Jump Lunges 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Start with Stationary lunges again and REPEAT 7 more times…

2nd Set-Pushups (on knees if you can’t do full pushups) 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Jump Squats 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Repeat 7 more times…

3rd Set-Burpees 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Side plank 20 secs
REST 10 sec
Repeat 7 more times…

4th Set-Mountain Climbers 20 secs
REST 10 secs
Lying leg raises 20 secs
REST 10 secs
Repeat 7 more times…

WORKOUT #2–> CORE CIRCUIT (Do 3 sets of each exercise, 12-15 reps)

Set 1-Do as a circuit (1 exercise after another) (3 times)
Plank with alternating shoulder touch
V sit ups
Bicycle crunches

Set 2-Do as a circuit (3 times)
Lying leg raises (alternating legs)
Wrist up/crunches
Windshield wipers

Set 3- Do as a circuit (3 times)
Side planks with hip lift
Full sit ups
Oblique twists

WORKOUT #3-CARDIO OF YOUR CHOICE (Walk, run, bike, swim, elliptical, row etc)
3 minute easy WARMUP
Alternate 1 min HARD (7-8 out of 10 effort) with 1 min of RECOVERY (3-4 out of 10 effort) 8 times (total 16 minutes)
1 minute COOL DOWN

Try doing a 20 minute workout TODAY! I went for a 20 minute run and felt AMAZING after, this is what inspired my blog post today 🙂 Remember getting in shape does not have to take hours…just use your time wisely and be consistent. It is much more beneficial to your health to do 20 minutes of exercise than 20 minutes of doing nothing, make sense??
